- Team Desi Videsi
The Desi Videsi story began all the way back in 1954, when the forefathers of our founders began manufacturing printing blocks. These hand printing blocks were made out of wood and brass, and were made for printing silk fabric meticulously by hand. The fabrics were to be purchased by the rich and affluent sections of post-Independence India, which meant that the manufacturing techniques were as important in the printing process as the printing itself. Thus was laid our foundation of fine attention-to-detail and our obsession with providing a quality product to our customers, a characteristic trait that has been handed down generation after generation.
Over the years, our founders have explored various aspects of the textile industry, looking to leave their mark in every sphere they touched. Our past experiences range from hand dyeing fabrics to hand embroidery, hand-printing and screen-printing fabrics to stitching them for final products and to even exporting them out of India for the NRI population that craved for the touch of Indian culture – our forays into the different avenues of Indian clothing has given us wide exposure to the different needs of the Indian consumer and the ways through which we can serve them.
